The main practice areas of Jerry Wang include: (1) regulatory and compliance; and (2) PE/VC, M&A.In data compliance, Jerry has for years led data compliance framework build-out and annual maintenance projects for global multinationals and leading Chinese companies. As his practice has deepened, he has extended data compliance to cross-border M&A, regulatory investigations, dispute resolution, and asset transactions, providing clients with integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions. He has also been closely involved in developing data product compliance assessment frameworks for several regional data exchanges in China.

 

In M&A, Jerry has led cross-border transactions across the full lifecycle - from structuring and due diligence to document negotiation, closing, and post-closing compliance. He also serves as ongoing counsel to multinationals operating in China and has led multiple anti-corruption and anti-fraud internal investigations, giving him a comprehensive understanding of the compliance risks companies face in their operations.

 

Prior to joining Merits & Tree Law Offices, Jerry practiced at King & Wood Mallesons and Eversheds Sutherland's Shanghai Representative Office, and earlier at Global Law Office and a European consulting firm.
