Professional Experience

Ms. Hu focuses her practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investments, joint ventures, private equity and venture capital transactions, spin-offs, divestitures, restructurings, and other commercial transactions for 20 years. She frequently advises clients on complex legal issues relating to deal structuring, due diligence investigations, regulatory approvals, financing, employment, and various compliance issues including anticorruption, data security, and securities trading rules etc. Miss Hu also has extensive experience in Chinese clients' overseas investments.

Ms. Hu has worked with clients in a broad range of sectors, including manufacturing, life sciences, technology, media and telecom, automotive, energy, infrastructure, and financial services. Her recent experience highlights include: an American multinational health care services company's Chinese business divestiture; a US high-end glass manufacturer's formation of a joint venture with a Chinese state-owned company; a Chinese automotive company's strategic business cooperation with a German vehicle manufacturer; a SOE’s formation of a joint venture with a European energy company, and multiple private equity capital’s investments in China.

Prior to joining Merits & Tree Law Offices in 2023, Miss Hu practiced at a reputable Chinese law firm in Beijing as a partner and a senior associate at Jones Day for more than 10 years.

Ms. Hu is fluent in English and is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese.
